Welcome
The Derbyshire Support and Advice for Men (SAM) project is provided and funded by Derbyshire County Council Communities Fund.
We are keen to provide a specific service for male victims of domestic abuse and are clear that it should be a service distinct from current female service provision.
SAM is funded to provide a county wide service. It consists of a telephone helpline, offering support and information to callers along with this website, which offers the option to access support via an email system which will allow men to write in anonymously, if required.
Also, workers are available to meet with victims at a safe place near to their local area if required and when appropriate, provide any ongoing housing related support following either their resettlement into a new home or an existing home after the abuser has left or been removed.
SAM workers are based at the head office, in Chesterfield, which also provides a drop in service and houses the helpline. From this base the workers are providing cover for each of the following areas: Amber Valley and Erewash, High Peak and Dales, South Derbyshire, North Derbyshire and Chesterfield via telephone, outreach and satellite drop in.
